I have a gateway, provided from the ISP, and the two routers are connected to it. The Gateway sees the two router with two different IP addresses: 192.168.100.2 for the router on the first floor and 192.168.100.4 for the one on the ground floor (see attached picture).

May 21, 2014 · There are a number of ways to connect two routers. For now, we’ll cover the most common methods when using an Ethernet cable. From this point on, router #1 will be called ‘Primary’ and router #2 will be referred to as the ‘Secondary’ or ‘client’ router. Option #1: Connect Two Routers Jan 26, 2013 · If you wish to extend the range of your Wifi network, you can purchase an additional wireless router and connect it to your existing router with an Ethernet cable.. The setup is pretty easy, inexpensive and the best part is that your two routers need not have to be from the same manufacturer so, for example, you can easily connect your Linksys (Cisco) router to a router from say Netgear or Belkin. The easiest way to connect two routers is by using Ethernet. A second (new) router which doesn’t have wireless capability must be connected to the first (existing) router via an Ethernet cable. Plug one end of the cable into the new router’s WAN port and Plug the other end into any free port on the first router other than its WAN port. My FiOS router is then plugged into the primary router to receive a DHCP address (For the set-top box network) Then with the custom firmware I setup a wireless bridge between the two Linksys routers. The benefit here is, that both Linksys routers are connectible wirelessly AND via wire, with only the primary dealing out IP addresses. Well if you want to have two routers with two different WANs, that would mean there would be two Gateways. To have two different gateways on the same IP range, only one router can be a DHCP server. Here is why using different network names by radio is a bad idea: Once connected to a network (ESSID), the client does try to stick much longer to it, even if the signal level (RSSI) is much worse than other network names also known by the wireless client. The user experience is much worse. If the networks are using the same pass phrase and encryption mode as well as the same SSID, then you might randomly connect to either of them. What is worse, some devices will jump between the networks and not necessarily from the weaker one to t

Apr 17, 2020 · Both routers can be accessed on the same network. If you type the IP of the main router, it should pull up just fine. If you change the IP in your browser to point to (we will use the IP we assigned) 192.168.1.201, then you will access the admin screen of the second router (the now “access point”).

In order to have two wireless routers working on the same network, i assume that all wireless settings (SSID, channel, even WEP key) needs to be the same. Is this assumption correct? 3. Two Routers on One Switch Well I have two routers 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.1.1, I would like to connect each router to the switch along with devices from each subnet but keep each subnet seperate.is that possible or do I need another switch.

Jan 25, 2012 · For connecting two wireless routers, second router would work only as a wireless access point. You should check in the router's manual for more info about your routers specs. And yes, the second router should extend the signal of your network.

You can bring network connectivity through wireless to a site and then connect all the devices to the physical Ethernet ports of the router. This is done through wireless bridging. Connecting two wireless routers , requires no cabling in home.  If both the wireless routers support 802.11N then good data bandwidth can be achieved. Re: Connecting two wireless routers together For the inexperienced, the golden rule is one network, one router - anytime you have two routers and you can make them do what you want, chalk it up to inexperience, and get rid of one. Dec 19, 2006 · Then you should be able to setup a roaming network with these two routers. For this, both routers must basically have the identical wireless settings except for the wireless channel which should be different to avoid interference. Thus, set the same SSID and the same wireless security settings on both routers. Feb 04, 2016 · The catch with 802.11r is that if it is enabled the network can ONLY support devices with 802.11r. I deploy Cisco wifi telephony and I promise you with a Gigabit network and proper wifi tuning seamless roaming is easily achievable. I have one network out there doing this without QoS as a long term test just to see and there's no .r or .k in sight.
