Power on your PS3 by holding the "Power" button for four to six seconds. You should hear one beep for the initial power-up and a series of two quick beeps after you have held the power button for four to six seconds. Release the power button after you have heard the two quick beeps. Wait for your laptop screen to configure with the PS3 console.

There should be that or similar options depending on the make/model/OS of the laptop. But most laptops only have HDMI output like my crappy dell. Sep 24, 2009 · Unfortunatly you cannot (wish we could though cos my screen is 1080p) The reason is because standard graphics cards are just 1 way, you would need a graphics card which can handle input video to do this. The closest I have got to this is linking my old LCD monitor to my ps3 using HDMI>DVI-D cable DVI-D>HDFury HDFury to monitor.

No current laptop has a video-in port as far as I know. A few years ago, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y730 had a VGA port that could take video in and out, making it possible to use the monitor for, say, a PS3.
